Woodshop Coordinator

(Carpenter I) 

Reston Community Center, a unique Fairfax County recreation agency, is seeking a Woodshop Coordinator to oversee the onsite woodshop for public use. The woodshop serves as a classroom setting for registered students, as well as a drop-in, open lab environment for community members to work on personal projects. The Coordinator must have thorough knowledge and experience working with a variety of woodshop equipment and demonstrate the proper use, maintenance, and safe handling of all power tools and hand held tools used in the woodshop. 

The Woodshop Coordinator works closely and cooperatively with other RCC Woodshop instructors to develop and implement a robust schedule of classes, workshops and open lab sessions. The candidate will be under the supervision of the Lifelong Learning Program Director and will work closely with this supervisor to address equipment maintenance, supply inventory, program planning and customer satisfaction. 

This position generally works 10-15 hours per week, typically on Saturday from 9a-5p and occasional evenings as needed. Work is generally active and the employee will be required to travel by car, walk to sites, load, unload, and carry supplies up to 30lbs. 

S16 ($18.9065 - $25.2087 per hour)

This is a Status E benefit-eligible position. Status E employees may not work in excess of 1,560 hours during the calendar year. Individuals in these positions are eligible for limited employee benefits, including medical, vision and dental insurance coverage, and participation in flexible spending programs, but are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.
