2017 Preference Poll

About the RCC Preference Poll

Reston Community Center (RCC) is devoted to serving the residents and businesses in Small District 5 (SD5). RCC is governed by a nine-person Board of Governors. Each year, RCC conducts a poll of residents and businesses in SD5 to select members of RCC's Board of Governors.

2017 Preference Poll Candidates

On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the request of Supervisor Catherine M. Hudgins, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed three Reston residents to the nine-member Reston Community Center Board of Governors: William J. Keefe, William Penniman and Vicky Wingert.

Incumbents Keefe, Penniman and Wingert were all appointed for three-year terms expiring in 2020. The appointments were made based upon the 2017 RCC Preference Poll. Vote tallies were as follows:

  • William J. Keefe – 1,169
  • William Penniman – 1,112
  • Vicky Wingert – 1,285

The three-year terms for Keefe, Penniman and Wingert will begin on November 6, 2017.

2017 Preference Poll Dates

Candidacy Filing August 1 – 15 (until 5:00 p.m.)
Candidate Photo and Orientation August 15, 6:00 p.m.
Candidates Forum September 18, 6:30 p.m.
Voting September 8 – September 29*
(until 5:00 p.m.)

Voting may open sooner. Voting will open as soon as ballots reach Reston mailboxes.
*Mailed ballots must be received by 5:00 p.m. September 28.
