A Respite from Chaos
League of Reston Artists
April 3– May 1
Reception: Sunday, April 9 • 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Jo Ann Rose Gallery – RCC Lake Anne
Discovering and creating your own reality, filtered through the perception of your feeling, can be a respite from the chaos that often surrounds us. Step back and focus on things that move you, that make you angry, happy, serene, meditative… an object, a real one or the meaning of it, people, social issues, war, peace, philosophy, madness of thoughts... give colors to it, capture the intensity of a moment, create what you see with your eyes, with your heart, with your mind… convey the message that reality is not what we see but what we discover and create for ourselves.
A sponsor of this exhibit and founder of the League of Reston Artist, Pat Macintyre is known for her steadfast efforts as a community volunteer. A renowned artist, she has spent more than 30 years volunteering her talent and love of art in many forums and spaces, including art galleries, government buildings, schools, festivals and celebrations. She spent 17 years as host of You’ve Gotta Have Art, a weekly children’s television program directed toward teaching Reston youth to appreciate art. Pat has spent her life working to preserve and promote the arts in Reston. Every Saturday morning, she leads free family workshops in art and culture at the Reston Historic Trust Museum.
