RCC Drop-in Program Changes due to COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions Answered

All participants will be required to have or purchase a pass to access aquatics, fitness/wellness, ceramics, 3D, glass studios and woodshop environments. Passes can be managed by patrons in myRCC. Patrons with existing RCC passes can manage those passes to add visits or time as they wish within the applicable options. Passes must be purchased first, then reservation enrollment can be made for the offering or timeframe desired. Reservations for pass use are free; the pass purchase is the only cost for the visit.

RCC Drop-In Programs Q&A – Chinese

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – DROP-IN PROGRAMS

Is there any limit to registering and reserving multiple drop-in classes?

Currently patrons may register for any options offered. Patrons are asked to be respectful of the limited space in the drop-in programs and register for only those options that they know they can attend.

I am a current pass holder; may I use the remaining visits for the new drop in reservations?

Patrons who already have a valid pass should continue to use their pass. All current pass types have been converted to the new pass formats. Existing passes have been extended by four months automatically. Patrons can renew or extend their pass online at myRCC Passes.

Can I just drop in to see if there are any slots available?

Patrons should refrain from their prior practice of “dropping in” as we are monitoring facility and room capacities to prevent exceeding the guidelines that preserve social distancing. RCC recommends checking drop-in program availability through myRCC which contains the latest information on availability. Patrons may also call RCC’s Customer Service Desks for assistance.

How do I cancel a reservation?

Patrons should call the RCC Customer Service Desk (703-476-4500/Press 8 for studios, woodworking shop, fitness) or Aquatics Service Desk (703-390-6150 for aquatics reservations) to cancel a reservation. Please do not send an email as the RCC Contact mailbox is not checked on an hourly basis. Canceling your reservation within 24 hours by phone enables RCC to reach someone who may be waitlisted for that time slot.

Do I need to bring my pass to participate in a drop-in program?

Patrons are required to bring their pass to each experience (lap swim, water exercise, fitness class or studio use) and swipe their card at the Customer Service desk prior to participating.

Is there a time limit for pool use?

Yes, each reservation is for 45 minutes of pool time followed by 15 minutes of locker room time.

Will there be equipment available in the pool?

Only kickboards and pull buoys are available for daily usage in the pool area. Equipment will be sanitized after each use by Aquatics staff. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own equipment.

How often will the pool area and locker rooms be cleaned?

Following CDC, state and county guidelines RCC staff will sanitize throughout the day. In addition, the pool area and locker rooms will be closed from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday – Saturday for thorough cleaning.

Is there any limit to registering and reserving multiple drop-in classes?

Patrons may register for any drop-in water aerobics class/lap swim/studio use offered. Patrons are asked to be respectful of the limited space in the drop-in programs and register for only those timeslots that they know they can attend.

Does it matter which studio I sign up for?

Patrons should reserve the space needed. To work on a wheel, sign up for the Ceramics Studio; to work on hand building or sculpture requires a reservation for the 3D Studio. Working in glass requires reserving the Glass Studio.

Why are there only four slots available in each space?

Following CDC, state and county guidelines for social distancing requires fewer people in the studios and woodshop. A valid pass is required, and must be purchased first, to complete a reservation for studio/woodshop use.

Will waitlists be used?

If patrons try to register and the slots are full, they will be waitlisted for the slot; if a cancellation is received, RCC will contact the waitlist patron(s) to let them know that there is space.

Why is the schedule less flexible than it was before and requires reserving a full time block?

RCC studios will be regularly cleaned following use of equipment by patrons. The time blocks allow for this periodic cleaning and maintaining social distancing.

Is a reservation required to check or retrieve a completed item?

To check or pick up items, patrons should please contact Cheri Danaher at Cheri.Danaher@fairfaxcounty.gov  or Gloria Morrow at Gloria.Morrow@fairfaxcounty.gov to make arrangements. Due to social distancing requirements, only registered patrons can access the studios during open studio time.

How often will the Ceramics Studio be cleaned?

Following CDC, state and county guidelines, RCC staff will sanitize the studios before and after classes and open studio times.

Will I need to wear a mask in the studios?

All participants and staff are required to wear a mask during any open studio hours. Fitness/Wellness Studio participants should wear masks coming into and leaving the class, and if they can tolerate it, during exercise. If not wearing a mask during exercise, patrons must maintain the required 10 feet of social distance at all times.

Do I need to bring my own tools and brushes?

For the sake of their personal health, participants are requested to bring their own tools to the studios.

Can I be reimbursed if I do not use my entire four hours?

Maintaining the required protocols for social distancing and cleaning requires the current schedule. There is no reimbursement for unused time.

How often will the Fitness Studios be cleaned?

Following CDC, state and county guidelines, RCC staff will sanitize the studios before and after classes and open studio times. In addition, only weights which can be properly sanitized can be shared in the Fitness Studios. If class requires mats, please bring your own to class.

How will the tools in the Woodshop be cleaned?

Patrons are required to disinfect equipment and tools after use. Supplies are provided. The Woodshop is cleaned thoroughly following the scheduled hours of operation by staff.
