Equity Partnerships Assistant

Job Description

Pay rate: $15.04 – 25.07/hour, depending on experience, education, and certifications.
Hours: 
Part-time (average 17 hours/week) and requires the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required. Hours may vary according to programming season and schedule. This position will not exceed 900 hours per calendar year.

Reston Community Centers and multiple locations within Reston

Position Description
Under the supervision of the Equity Partnerships Director, the candidate in the Equity Partnerships Assistant role will support the Offsite & Collaboration department to coordinate, facilitate, support, and supervise equity-based events and programs held offsite throughout the Reston community. The Equity Partnerships Assistant will establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees within Fairfax County government and local community partners.

The ideal candidate must be organized and experienced in administrative duties and support, worked recreation programs, and strong communication and leadership skills. This position exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative to manage, lead, monitor and supervise programs, contractors, and volunteers.

Program and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties and support of the Offsite & Collaboration department.
  • Experience in recreation programming and management skills.
  • Assists in program evaluation of events and programs.
  • Responsible for room preparation, set-up and clean up.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with internal customers, community partners and citizens in the community.
  • Shows flexibility while facilitating programs and activities.
  • Ability to work independently to supervise and facilitate programs.
  • Enforce RCC’s Code of Conduct for participant use.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of studying and training at an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge and ability to plan, develop, supervise, and administer recreation programs.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Has experience in recreation or related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Must be cooperative, dedicated, reliable, patient, and mature.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to offsite program locations throughout Reston.
  • Required to assist with program set up and breakdown with the ability lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be First-Aid and CPR certified.


After notification of hire, the following will be required:

  • Social Security card
  • Criminal history record check, including fingerprinting. Results must be received prior to hire date.
