Be sure you get in on the fun. \n“The Producers”\nBook by Mel Brooks & Thomas Meehan\nMusic & Lyrics by Mel Brooks\nDirected by Andy Regiec \nMel Brooks’ slapstick 2001 adaptation of his 1968 film is a laugh-out-loud\, outrageous\, and crowd-pleasing musical farce about producer Max Bialystock and his accountant\, Leo Bloom as they scheme to bilk their backers out of millions of dollars by creating the biggest flop Broadway has ever seen:  Springtime for Hitler!  Winning a record 12 Tony Awards in 2002\, The Producers is a love letter to musical theatre and features wild costumes\, comic gold\, a chorus of singing pigeons\, and a line of little old ladies dancing through Central Park with walkers! \nContent Warning:  Mel Brooks.  But if that doesn’t explain it\, then: Adult Language and themes\, innuendo\, nazis\, and ribald humor that might be offensive to some viewers. \nThe Reston Community Players is supported in part by ArtsFairfax.

SUMMARY:Viet Thanh Nguyen
DESCRIPTION:Viet Thanh Nguyen’s writing is bold\, elegant and fiercely honest. His remarkable debut novel\, “The Sympathizer\,” won the Pulitzer Prize\, was a Dayton Literary Peace Prize winner and made the finalist list for the PEN/Faulkner award. \nViet and his family came to the United States as refugees during the Vietnam War in 1975. The New York Times says that his novel “fills a void … giving voice to the previously voiceless while it compels the rest of us to look at the events of forty years ago in a new light.” His voice is refreshing and powerful as he urges readers to examine the legacy of that tumultuous time and its aftermath from a new perspective. Copies of his books will be available for purchase and the author will sign them. \nCelebrate the opening of the 2025/2026 Professional Touring Artists Series with a reception in the Community Room. Light fare will be served.
