Position Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the RCC Program Director, this position serves as an instructor of woodshop classes and/or a supervisor of the Open Woodshop public, “open” lab sessions. As an instructor, the candidate teaches classes to include a course outline and individual session lesson plans in accordance with RCC policies. The instructor is responsible for supply inventory and must notify the supervising RCC Program Director of any supply, equipment and audio-visual needs. Whether serving as a Woodshop Instructor or an Open Woodshop Lab Supervisor, this position exercises a high level of independent judgment in safety, planning and supervision of participants. The candidate must have thorough knowledge and experience working with a variety of woodshop equipment and demonstrate the proper use, maintenance, and safe handling of all power tools and handheld tools used in the woodshop. This position generally works 4-8 hours per week. The typical schedule includes weekend (i.e. Saturday) and weekday evening hours. Work is generally active, and the employee will be required to travel by car, walk to sites, load, unload, and carry supplies up to 30lbs.
