Work in ceramics, glass or wood at RCC’s open studios. 

All participants are required to have a pass to access Ceramics, 3D, Glass Studios and Woodshop environments. Reservations for the following month open up on the 25th of the previous month for Reston residents and employees and the first of the month for Non-Reston.

Open Ceramics Studio

(18 years and older)

Reservations are required to attend RCC’s Open Ceramics Studio and will require a valid Ceramics PassTo reserve your spot, sign into myRCC and select the dates and studio in which you wish to participate. Reservations for the Open Ceramics Studio is free, but patrons are required to purchase a Ceramics Studio pass and swipe the pass prior to each visit. Ceramics Studio passes can be purchased and renewed online through myRCC or at an RCC Customer Service Desk. They may be purchased for a minimum of one visit to a maximum of 40 visits at the fee of $15 (R)/$30 (NR) per visit. Ceramics Studio passes expire two years from date of purchase.

The pass fee includes firing and glazes. Clay cost is $15-$20 for 25lbs.

Open Glass Studio

(18 years and older)

Reservations are required to attend RCC’s Open Glass Studio and will require a valid Glass Pass. Open Glass Studio is facilitated by an experienced glass artist. Tools are provided; however, participants must work independently on projects and bring their own materials. The Open Glass Studio now requires reservations. To reserve your spot, sign into myRCC and select the dates you wish to attend. Registration for the Open Glass Studio is free, but patrons are required to purchase a Glass Studio pass and swipe the pass prior to each visit. Glass Studio passes can be purchased and renewed online through myRCC or at an RCC Customer Service Desk. They may be purchased for a minimum of one visit to a maximum of 10 visits at the fee of $10 (R)/$20 (NR) per visit. Glass Studio passes expire two years from date of purchase.

Open Woodshop

(18 years and older)

Reservations are required to use RCC’s Open Woodshop and will require the use of a Woodshop passA woodshop supervisor will be onsite for consultation during these open hours. The Open Woodshop now requires reservations. To reserve your spot, sign into myRCC and select the dates and times you wish to attend. Woodshop passes can be purchased and renewed online through myRCC or at an RCC Customer Service Desk. Passes may be purchased for a minimum of one visit to a maximum of 10 visits at the fee of $12 (R)/$24 (NR) per visit. They expire two years from date of purchase. Each visit includes a maximum of 3.5 hours. Reservations for the Open Woodshop is free, but patrons are required to purchase a Woodshop pass and swipe the Woodshop pass prior to each visit.

The shop includes stationary power tools, including table saw, jointer, planer, bandsaws, drill presses, miter saw, mortiser, lathe, router table, benchtop sanders, tool sharpener and downdraft table. Portable power tools include orbital and belt sanders, hand drills, biscuit joiner, routers, jigsaw, pneumatic nailers, plus, hand tools, benches and ample workspace.  

Please note: Woodworking projects may not be left in the RCC Shop; no storage is available. Thank you for your cooperation.

Drop-in Programs Changes FAQ

If patrons try to register and the slots are full, they will be waitlisted for the slot; if a cancellation is received, RCC will contact the waitlist patron(s) to let them know that there is space.

For the sake of their personal health, participants are requested to bring their own tools to the studios.

Patrons are required to bring their pass to each experience (lap swim, water exercise, fitness class or studio use) and swipe their card at the Customer Service desk prior to participating.

Yes, only Reston residents and employees in Small District 5 (Reston) ages 55 and older are eligible for any applicable senior discount.
