RESTON, VA — Reston Community Center announces auditions for performing arts groups of all ages and cultures for the 14th Annual Reston Multicultural Festival. The festival will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston, Virginia.
Applications will be accepted until May 5, 2014. Interested groups or individuals should fill out an Entertainment Application Form, available on RCC’s website atwww.restoncommunitycenter.com/multiculturalfestival.shtml. Auditions will be held at the CenterStage at Reston Community Center, 2310 Colts Neck Road, Reston, VA 20191. Groups will have their choice of two audition dates: Friday, May 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. orThursday, May 8 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
To reserve an audition time on one of these two dates, please contact Kevin Danaher, Community Events Director at 703-390-6166 orkevin.danaher@fairfaxcounty.gov. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Each auditioning group will have ten minutes to present a sample of their work. In lieu of an audition, the Entertainment Committee will also consider applications that include audio/video examples of the group’s work.
The auditions are free of charge and open to any organization interested in performing at the Reston Multicultural Festival. Auditions will be reviewed by the Entertainment Committee. Criteria used to evaluate the audition will include artistic merit, production values, authentic traditions and forms of specific cultures, and general merit of the performance to the festival. Performance styles can be specific to a particular religious orientation but should not be used to proselytize or overtly promote any one faith over another. The Reston Multicultural Festival is a family-oriented event and material performed shall be suitable for all ages and free of any content that would be inappropriate for a diverse, multicultural and multigenerational audience. Special consideration will be given to Reston-based organizations.
