Chinese Brush Painting Exhibit by Tracie Griffith Tso

Tracie Griffith Tso painted her first bamboo brushstrokes as a child at a brush painter’s studio in California. The award-winning artist, who specializes in traditional spontaneous flower, bird and animal painting, developed her style with a teacher schooled by a Hong Kong master.

She specializes in spontaneous flower-bird Chinese brush painting, the freestyle drawing of animals. Her subjects include koi, rabbits, squirrels, Siamese cats, birds, horses, frogs and more.  Tracie uses traditional ink on rice paper and silk to create images with bamboo-handled, wolf-hair brushes.

She is the Chinese brush painting instructor at the Reston Community Center, has a studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center and a member of the Kiln Club and Washington Ceramic Guild. She lives in North Reston with her husband and workshop rabbit and muse, Willow.
