Instructor III Young Actors Theatre Choreographer

Job Description

Pay rate: $24.44 – $32.58 per hour
Hours: 115 hours for the program

Position Description
The Young Actors Theatre (YAT) program is a five-week program, July 6 – August 7, 2026, that trains young actors in the disciplines of voice, dance and acting with a focus of exposing participants to the process of theatrical productions. There will be a maximum of 75 participants that are split into three groups. The 7-11 age group is limited to 50 participants who will be divided into two groups. The 12-15 age group is limited to 25 participants.  Each group will perform a final performance on one of the following dates August 5, 6, and 7, 2026.

Program and Administrative Responsibilities 

  • Teaches movement and dance fundamentals. Program hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Develop choreography for one or two productions as assigned.
  • Obtains and secure any audio equipment/supplies for class, rehearsals and production support from production staff.
  • Ensures student safety in performance of dance class elements and choreography elements.
  • Enforces appropriate dress for dance class that allows participants to move freely and safely.
  • Contributes to a positive and nurturing environment for participants and staff
  • Prepares for and attends production meetings as assigned. Production meetings are after 3 p.m.
  • Participates in complete production strike and performances. Evening availability required for performance dates, August 5 –7.

Minimum Employment Standards 

  • Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of studying and training at an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge and ability to plan, develop, supervise, and administer musical theatre dance activities
  • Experience with youth
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the participants and staff members.
  • Has experience in choreography, musical theatre or related field
  • Must be cooperative, dedicated, reliable and patient

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must be First-Aid and CPR certified at the beginning of camp.
