Young Actors Theatre Stage Manager (non-equity)

Job Description

Pay rate: starting at $20 per hour, based on experience
Hours: 115 hour contract; Monday – Friday
Rehearsal Dates/Hours: April 10 – May 30, 2026 – Fridays, 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Tech: June 1, 12:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. / June 2 – 5, 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Performance/Strike: June 6, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods

Position Description
Young Actors Theatre is a spring drama program for ages 7-15 that builds skills in voice, acting and dance as participants work toward a production of a one-act play with one performance on Saturday, June 6. The stage manager attends and supports Friday and Saturday rehearsals as well as Tech Week and Performance Day.

Program and Administrative Responsibilities 

  • Manages daily check-in/attendance and sign-out
  • Assists with casting as requested by the director
  • Prepares rehearsal space and supports rehearsals by keeping them on schedule, taking notes, recording blocking and cues, etc.
  • Assists in supervising participants throughout the rehearsal time
  • Creates and organizes production materials including rehearsal reports, cue sheets, scripts and relays this information to the production team
  • Maintains production DropBox/Shared Folders
  • Serves as the production stage manager for tech week (June , 12:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.; June 2 – 5, 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) and performance (June 6, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
  • Ensures the safety of the rehearsal space and participants
  • Contributes to a positive, educational rehearsal environment

Minimum Employment Standards 

  • Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of studying and training at an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Has experience in stage management, ideally with youth
  • Knowledge and ability to plan, develop, supervise, and administer theatrical activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the youth participants and staff members.
  • Must be collaborative, organized, dedicated, reliable, patient

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must be First-Aid and CPR certified at the beginning of the program
