RESTON, VA — Reston Community Center will present their popular free Thursday evening summer concerts at Reston Station in summer 2022. Previously held on Lake Anne Plaza, these concerts offer a variety of musical styles with monthly “dance night” instruction on Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Artists scheduled to perform range from the bluegrass tunes of Shannon Bielski and Moonlight Drive on June 2 to swing and Klezmer music from the Seth Kibel Band on September 1. In between, audiences can enjoy everything from New Orleans jazz to Celtic music in the plaza adjacent to the Wiehle-Reston Metro station. Bring a lawn chair and friends!
ParkX will provide parking validation for concert goers from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. RCC is grateful to its summer program partner, Comstock, for making the plaza available for audiences on Thursday evenings in addition to their “Fab Fridays” series that attracts area residents. Lake Anne Plaza use is being revisited by the Lake Anne of Reston Condominium Association (LARCA) and final policy and application materials for it were not available in time to proceed with planning adequately for summer 2022.
“The Reston community looks forward to RCC’s summer concert series all over Reston,” said RCC Board Chair Bev Cosham. “We hope the short distance down the road to Reston Station won’t be inconvenient and that we will see all of our Lake Anne neighbors and friends there.”
The new series location adds to a robust calendar of community activities on the plaza. “We are delighted to welcome the Take a Break concert series to Metro Plaza at Reston Station,” said Tracey Schar, SVP of Marketing for Comstock. “We are proud to partner with Reston Community Center to enhance our 2022 Summerbration entertainment event schedule and look forward to welcoming everyone to Reston Station.”
