RESTON, VA – On Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the request of Supervisor Catherine M. Hudgins, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed three Reston residents to the nine-member Reston Community Center Board of Governors: William Keefe, William Penniman and Vicky Wingert.
Keefe, Penniman and Wingert were all appointed for three-year terms expiring in 2017. The appointments were made following the official results of the 2014 RCC Preference Poll. Vote tallies were as follows:
- Vicky Wingert 1,241
- William Keefe 1,119
- William Penniman 1,103
- Linda Singer 984
William Keefe is a long-time Reston resident and has been an active member of the Reston community for many years with interests in such activities as planning for the future based on the advent of rail, planning for the youth recreation priorities for Reston Association, participating in Reston Runners, and participating in and supporting Reston Triathlons. While serving on the RCC Board from 2007 – 2010, he also served on the Reston Master Plan Special Study Task Force.
William Penniman has served on the RCC Board since 2006. He also served on the Reston Master Plan Special Study Task Force, where he co-chaired the Wiehle Station Subcommittee as well as serving on other task force committees. His most recent civic involvement includes serving on Supervisor Hudgins’ Hunter Mill Budget Advisory Committee and he serves on the Reston Planning and Zoning Committee. Other volunteer work he enjoys is with the Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club.
Vicky Wingert has served on the RCC Board since 2011. Vicky has been a Reston resident since 1973 and worked for the Reston Association for many years, serving as the Day Camp Director, Open Space Director, and ultimately as the Chief Executive Officer. She has also served as President of the Reston Historic Trust and has served on the Reston Association and Friends of Reston boards.
