RCC PRESENTS 2019 GIFTS FROM THE HEART EXHIBIT & SHOPPING EVENT

RCC PRESENTS GIFTS FROM THE HEART EXHIBIT & SHOPPING EVENT (PDF)

RESTON, VA – Reston Community Center invites the public to the 21st Annual Gifts from the HeART Exhibit and Holiday Gift Shopping Event.

The event will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at RCC Lake Anne.

People can enjoy the artists’ creations on display in the Jo Ann Rose Gallery through January 6, 2020; 3D Gallery exhibit items will remain on display through February 14. Artist entry fees and 10 percent of all sales will be donated to Cornerstones.

The exhibit showcases original works of art in a variety of media – including oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, stained glass, ceramic, sculpture, and mixed media – in a wide range of sizes and prices. The December 7 reception will offer the community a chance to purchase artwork and get into the holiday spirit with shopping and holiday refreshments.

Proceeds will help Cornerstones continue the important work of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, the Laurel Learning Center and their Community Services Outreach, which includes job counseling, emergency food, and youth programs. Since the annual exhibit and sale was first held in 1999, Gifts from the HeART has raised more than $15,000 for Cornerstones.

The event is held concurrently with Jingle on the Lake, the annual Lake Anne tradition that features Santa arriving by barge. Jingle on the Lake takes place on December 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with Santa arriving by barge at noon.

“The Annual Gifts from the HeART exhibit and sale is a wonderful Reston tradition,” said Cheri Danaher, RCC’s Arts Education Director. “Our artists and the community eagerly participate in this unique shopping event that showcases local creative talent and unique gifts for holiday giving. The artists’ support of Cornerstones exemplifies the Reston spirit of providing support for those who need it.”

For more information regarding the exhibit or December 7 event, please call Gloria Morrow, Arts Education Assistant, at 703-390-6187.

The Jo Ann Rose Gallery and 3D Gallery are located at Reston Community Center Lake Anne at 1609-A Washington Plaza in Reston, Virginia. The facility is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sundays. The Gallery is not open to the public during rental functions and/or programs.
