RESTON, VA —Reston Community Center invites the public to the 15th Annual Gifts from the HeART Exhibit and Holiday Gift Shopping Event.  The gift-shopping event will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and is presented in conjunction with Santa’s arrival by barge for Jingle on Lake Anne.  The exhibit is on display through January 6, 2014 at RCC Lake Anne’s art galleries; 3D exhibit items will remain on display through February 21. Artist entry fees and 10 percent of all sales will be donated to Cornerstones.

The exhibit showcases original works of art in a variety of media – including oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, stained glass, ceramic, sculpture, and mixed media – in a wide range of sizes and prices. The December 7 reception will offer the community a chance to purchase artwork and get into the holiday spirit with shopping and holiday refreshments.

Proceeds will help Cornerstones continue the important work of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, the Laurel Learning Center and their Community Services Outreach, which includes job counseling, emergency food, and youth programs. Since the annual exhibit was first held in 1999, Gifts from the HeART has raised approximately $7,000 for Cornerstones (formerly Reston Interfaith).

“The Gifts from the HeART exhibit brings artists and community members together for a wonderful cause,” said Cheri Danaher, RCC’s Arts Education Director. “Through this event, everyone involved can enjoy fantastic works of art, celebrate the holidays, and also support those in need in our area.”

For more information regarding the exhibit or December 7 event, please call Gloria Morrow, Arts Education Assistant, at 703-476-4500 ext. 6187.
