RCC Seeks Entertainers for the 2024 Reston Multicultural Festival
Opportunities also available for arts and crafts vendors and civic organizations
RESTON, VA — Reston Community Center is seeking performing arts groups of all ages and cultures for the 2024 Reston Multicultural Festival. Plans are underway to hold the festival on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Reston Town Center with an expanded footprint allowing for performances on three stages, more entertainment and artisans. For more than 22 years, the Multicultural Festival has fostered a sense of belonging and discovery, welcoming thousands of people from all over the region to the celebration of diversity that is a hallmark of Reston’s lifestyle.
To accommodate as many applicants as possible, selections will be made based on the materials submitted rather than auditions. Materials must include recent samples of representative work by the individual or group applying. All applications should include audio/video examples of the group’s work. Submissions will be reviewed by an entertainment committee. Evaluation criteria includes artistic merit, production values, evidence of authentic traditions and forms of specific cultures, and general merit of the performance. Performance styles can be specific to a particular religious orientation but should not be used to proselytize or overtly promote any faith or religion.
The Reston Multicultural Festival is a family-oriented event and material performed must be suitable for all ages and free of any content that would be inappropriate for a diverse, multicultural and multigenerational audience. Special consideration will be given to Reston-based organizations. Artists selected for the Reston Multicultural Festival will be notified by August 2, 2024.
