RCC SUMMER CONCERTS RETURN TO LAKE ANNE PLAZA

RCC SUMMER CONCERTS RETURN TO LAKE ANNE PLAZA
Reston nonprofits supported by a new LARCA and RCC Community Sponsorship

RESTON, VA— On April 4, 2024, the Lake Anne of Reston, A Condominium (LARCA) board of directors approved a license agreement enabling Reston Community Center (RCC) to bring a summer concert series back to Lake Anne Plaza for the first time since 2019. The summer 2024 weekly series will be called “Sunset Concerts at Lake Anne Plaza” and be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, June 12 and ending on Wednesday, August 14. Additionally, RCC will become an annual Community Sponsor for Reston nonprofit organizations’ events held on Lake Anne Plaza and licensed to be presented there by LARCA.

Two such sponsorships will be executed this year. The first RCC Community Sponsorship for $12,000 will cover events held on the Plaza this upcoming May and June as fiscal year 2024 concludes. Subsequently, an annual sponsorship amount of $50,000 will cover all such events between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025. RCC believes that the Community Sponsorship will allow LARCA to manage the costs of plaza maintenance that are occasioned by large special events, and that the community as a whole greatly benefits from such experiences. Supporting these activities is consistent with its mission and vision to enrich lives and build community for all of Reston.

The Sunset Concerts at Lake Anne Plaza will continue a tradition of weekly musical events that RCC brought to the Lake Anne neighborhoods for more than 20 years before being interrupted by the pandemic and other challenges. “We are delighted to bring a high-quality variety of musical styles to Lake Anne again,” said RCC Board Chair, Beverly Cosham. “Lake Anne Plaza is where RCC’s summer concert series began. As we’ve branched out to some of Reston’s newest neighborhoods, it’s sweet to be back where we started in 2024.”

The concerts and the new sponsorship are welcomed by the board of LARCA. “We are happy to host RCC-funded Reston area organized events on our property for the enjoyment of the greater Reston community, while at the same time ensuring the maintenance, cleaning, and insuring costs are not borne by the association,” said George Hadjikyriakou, President of LARCA. “We look forward to the continued partnership as it benefits everyone.”

LARCA and RCC will be welcoming audiences to the kickoff concert on June 12, with a performance by the Mystic Warriors who are a longtime favorite of Lake Anne audiences.
