RESTON COMMUNITY CENTER ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR OF LEISURE AND LEARNING (PDF)

RESTON, VA — Reston Community Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Karen Brutsché as its new Director of Leisure and Learning effective August 20, 2018.

Karen BrutscheBrutsché has served as RCC’s Director of Lifelong Learning and former 55+ Program Director for nearly a decade and has organized and directed thousands of programs and events for RCC patrons 18 and older.

Her infectious energy, intellect and passion have earned her the gratitude of the Reston community and the respect of her colleagues. “I am very excited to serve our patrons in a broader sense,” said Brutsché. “I love my experiences with the community at RCC. It is a delight to come to work every day.”

RCC Executive Director Leila Gordon said that “RCC is lucky to be served by a group of outstanding professionals in all our departments – Karen will be leading a superb team.”

Brutsché holds a Bachelor of Science in Management, Housing and Family Development from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is a graduate of the Leadership Fairfax Class of 2016. A Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) as recognized by the National Certification Board (NCB) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Brutsché serves on various professional committees, including the Virginia Recreation and Park Society Senior Resource Group, Virginia Senior Games and the 50+ Community Ambassadors.

Karen Brutsché has been a Reston-area resident since 1967. Prior to joining RCC, she was a longtime small-business owner in Northern Virginia. Brutsché replaces Eileen Boone, who relocated to Florida in July after more than 17 years at RCC.
