RESTON COMMUNITY CENTER LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE TO ENHANCE USER EXPERIENCE
RESTON, VA – Reston Community Center (RCC) is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, a user-centric digital platform designed to bring the community closer together and provide easy access to a wealth of information, events and resources. This project was a collaborative effort among the agency’s vendor (United Experts), RCC leadership, staff teams, patrons and community partners. The redesigned website offers an array of features and tools aimed at improving the user experience, making it more accessible, informative and engaging than ever before.
With a modern and elegant design at its core, the new RCC site focuses on content clarity, ensuring that patrons can effortlessly navigate through its pages. The design elements have been optimized to adapt seamlessly to various screen sizes and devices, from smartphones to extra-large screens. The website is organized into three primary content categories: “Things to Do,” “Info,” and “Facilities,” each accessible through a user-friendly navigation bar that features a “mega menu” with direct links to related sections and sub-sections.
“RCC’s website had been in use for more than a decade and had become difficult to update,” said RCC Executive Director Leila Gordon. “We devoted a year to research, designing a comprehensive RFP and issuing that solicitation. We received about a dozen proposals and analyzed them for how well they understood both RCC and our community, as well as how beautifully and functionally they addressed our challenges.” The Board and staff were very involved with the vendor in guiding the project and the new website was extensively tested by patrons. “RCC users gave us invaluable feedback,” said Board Chair Beverly Cosham. “The outcome is as much a function of their input as of ours.”
Community engagement is a cornerstone of RCC’s mission, and the new website enables community partners in Small District 5 to submit and manage their own community-oriented events through the “Community Submitted Events” portal. Those events are then visible on a comprehensive “Community Calendar.”
Another key feature of the new website is the introduction of a notification system, allowing RCC to easily and promptly publish time-sensitive announcements on specific pages, sections, or the entire site in case of closures or weather-related emergencies. Additionally, digitalized documents and publication archives are now fully searchable, allowing users to access and search documents with ease. RCC’s emphasis on inclusivity extends to web accessibility, with the site following ADA guidelines and offering a powerful translation tool to serve non-English-speaking patrons.
Furthermore, the new “Help Center” is a valuable resource for patrons seeking information independently, without needing to contact RCC for assistance. It features powerful search functionality and quick links to the most popular FAQs.
The launch of this innovative website underscores RCC’s commitment to delivering a seamless and engaging experience to the community. Everyone is invited to explore the new website and take full advantage of its enhanced features. To experience the new website, visit www.restoncommunitycenter.com
