RESTON, VA — Reston Community Center (RCC) is pleased to announce the opening of the 2012-2013 Professional Touring Artist Series at the CenterStage. The season begins in September 2012 and continues through May 2013 with performances by musicians, singers, aerialists, songwriters, actors and performing artists of all kinds. Tickets will be available for Reston residents and employees in a special pre-sale event on Sunday, July 29; remaining tickets will be available to Reston residents and employees starting on August 1 and to the general public starting on August 8.

Featured performances in the 2012-2013 Professional Touring Artist Series include:

• Ronit Eisenbach and Sharon Mansur, September 8 at the Jo Ann Rose Gallery: Following their April 2012 performance at Lake Anne Plaza, dance artist Sharon Mansur and architect Ronit Eisenbach discuss the creation of site-situated performance/installation work and examine the ways we perceive, shape and inhabit our world. This performance is free and open to the public.
• Luis J. Rodriguez, September 18: One of the leading Chicano writers with 15 published books in memoir, fiction, nonfiction, children’s literature, and poetry, Rodriguez shares his perspective through works described by the New York Times Book Review as “vivid, raw…fierce and fearless.”
• For That Which Returns, September 29: Performers from Baltimore’s In-Flight Theater and Arachne Aerial Arts explore the connection between mothers, daughters and the seasons while inhabiting a 15-foot-tall metal weather vane.
• American Contemporary Music Ensemble, October 31: Known among both classical and rock music crowds for their dedication to cutting-edge contemporary music, ACME, led by artistic director and cellist Clarice Jensen, performs masterworks from the 20th and 21st centuries.
• Biting Fish, November 4: A contagiously exuberant five-piece New Orleans-style brass band led by Howard Fishman, the Biting Fish performs originals mixed with classic spirituals, blues, gospel and funk.
• Linden String Quartet with Michael Brown, November 8: Currently the Graduate String Quartet in Residence at Yale University, the Linden String Quartet performs with a “remarkable depth of technique…delivered with a palpable, infectious joy,” as described by MusicWeb International.
• The Reduced Shakespeare Company presents The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged), November 14 and 15: The Reduced Shakespeare Company takes an irreverent yet heartwarming trip through the holidays, rekindling the joy, inner children, and familial dysfunction inside us all.
• Steep Canyon Rangers, November 28: Headlining music festivals in collaboration with Steve Martin and also performing on their own, the Steep Canyon Rangers bring bluegrass to music lovers with smooth vocals, smart songwriting, ferocious instrumentals and jaw-dropping harmonies.
• Cyrille Aimée and Diego Figueiredo, December 14: Vocalist Cyrille Aimée and guitarist Diego Figueiredo blend gypsy jazz and Dominican rhythm and spice with strong emotion and incredible technique to form an original, yet timeless sound.
• The Ahn Trio, December 19: The Ahn Trio redefines the art and architecture of chamber music with commissioned works from visionary composers like Pat Metheny, Kenji Bunch, Maurice Jarre, Nikolai Kaptustin and Michael Nyman.
• JUNK by Brian Sanders, February 13: Brian Sanders’ choreography blends traditional dance theater with ingenious use of found objects and clever inventions to create an exhilarating feast of physicality and creativity.
• Gerald Clayton Trio, February 16: Award-winning composer and pianist Gerald Clayton leads this trio in performing intricate, swinging pieces that are steeped in tradition while always facing the future.
• The Left Bank Quartet, March 3: Violinists David Salness and Sally McLain, violist Katherine Murdock, and cellist Evelyn Elsing bring their diverse backgrounds together to weave a rich and varied tapestry of musical magic.
• Lúnasa, March 6: One of the hottest Irish acts around, Lunasa brings intelligence, innovation, virtuosity and passion to Celtic music in a performance that is one of the highlights of the Professional Touring Artist Series each year.
• Kyle Abraham, April 3: Listed in Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2009, Kyle Abraham performs with a commitment to movement and vivid emotional output that make him one of the best and brightest emerging creative talents.
• It’s Vaudeville! by Mark Brutsche, April 7: Mark Brutsche returns to the CenterStage as his alter ego, Buddy Silver, who finds himself challenged to host a complete Vaudeville show with no help… unless the audience gets involved.
• Keepin’ It Moving: The Hip Hop Tap Color Map, April 13: Keepin’ It Moving explores the evolution of Black dance through hip-hop theater, blending rhymed narration, a live DJ and MC, audience response and colorful footwork to create a time-travelling dance map across the stage.
• Trout Fishing in America, April 27: Playing music together since the 1970s, now 15 albums and four GRAMMY nominations later, Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet’s infectious mix of folk/ pop and family music is enriched by the diverse influences of reggae, Latin, blues, jazz and classical music.
• Paris Combo, May 1: With a worldwide fan base of ardent admirers, Paris Combo mixes jazz, French pop, cabaret, gypsy, Latino, and Middle Eastern rhythms in a fun-loving performance.

The Box Office will fill walk-in and mailed and faxed orders from residents and employees within Small District 5, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Proof of residence or employment status is required.

August 1: Sales Open to Reston Residents and Employees

Residents and employees within Small District 5 can purchase tickets.

August 8: Sales Open to the General Public

The general public, along with Reston residents and employees, can purchase tickets.

August 15: Online Sales Open

Tickets will be available for purchase online.
