2023 RESTON MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL – CANCELED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER ARRIVING FOR THE WEEKEND
RESTON, VA — Due to the high degree of confidence that weather in the Reston area from around 11:00 p.m. Friday night until Sunday morning will include periods of heavy rain, high winds and uncomfortably cool temperatures, the 2023 Reston Multicultural Festival has been canceled. There is no rescheduled date. With artists, vendors, community organizations, and event staff and volunteers coming from various areas affected by this tropical storm, organizers do not want to put people at risk of injury in trying to reach or attend the festival. People are urged to stay off the roads on Saturday. This annual event is cherished by the community, and event planners appreciate everyone’s understanding that people’s safety is their highest priority.
The months ahead hold many opportunities for people to enjoy diverse artistry in the 2023/2024 Professional Touring Artist Series at the CenterStage. RCC and its partners look forward to hosting people throughout the fall during better weather. The Friday evening Darden and Friends concert at 5:30 p.m. in the Pavilion at Reston Town Center will go on as scheduled there. Sip ‘n Stroll will also be available.
RCC extends its gratitude to Reston Town Center Association – the co-presenter of the Reston Multicultural Festival – and host BXP – as well as the volunteer support and organization provided by Reston Association. The event partners appreciate the understanding of the NEA Fellows and the support of the National Council for the Traditional Arts. The partnership among these civic, nonprofit and business organizations allowed for the most ambitious Reston Multicultural Festival plan ever. All partners are looking forward to 2024 and doing it again under sunnier skies.
