THREE APPOINTED TO RCC BOARD OF GOVERNORS
RESTON, VA – On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the request of Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter L. Alcorn, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed three Reston residents to the nine-member Reston Community Center (RCC)Board of Governors. Beverly Cosham, Paul Thomas, and Shane M. Ziegler earned the highest number of votes in the recently completed RCC Preference Poll. All three incumbent candidates wereappointed t
o serve three-year terms.
The three-year terms for Cosham, Thomas, and Ziegler will begin on November 3, 2025. The 2025 RCC Preference Poll, which allows residents and businesses located in Small District 5 to vote, ran from September 5 through September 26, 2025.
The results for the three candidates are as follows:
Paul Thomas – 1,316 Beverly Cosham – 1,214 Shane M. Ziegler – 1,185
Beverly Cosham is a founding member of the Reston Chorale and Reston Players and has served on the boards of Lorton Arts Foundation, ArtsFairfax and the RCC Board of Governors. As an incumbent, she is dedicated to developing programs and partnerships that reflect Reston’s diversity and Bob Simon’s vision of a welcoming community.
Paul Thomas is a lifelong Restonian who has served on several local boards, including the RCC Board of Governors, Fairfax County Human Services Council, Reston Association Board and Reston Historic Trust Board. He is committed to ensuring RCC’s programs and facilities support Reston’s evolving needs while prioritizing inclusion and accessibility.
Shane M. Ziegler champions community connection in Reston through his organization, Reston Forward. He focuses on helping newcomers engage in community service and civic education to better understand and feel at home in Reston. As our community continues to grow along the metro corridor, he aspires to keep RCC at the heart of Reston’s sense of belonging.
